Everyone’s body and mind are unique – no two human beings identical in their mental and physical needs. First things first, maybe you have a few extra pounds hanging around and possibly due to our high tech world your daily schedule seems to be packed plum full, but you have one body and mind in this lifetime. Analyze your day, take an inventory of what your priorities really are and squeeze in a 1/2 or 40 minutes, 3 times a week just for you.

It seems the keywords are about diets, losing weight and health issues – these are important, but what about running or jogging just for you. Don’t start an exercise program with unrealistic goals at this time. First goals should require baby steps, such as (1) Giving my mind a break from the relentless schedules, (2) Take a little private time just for myself, and (3) Give my body a much needed treat that’s craving.

Our bodies are pretty much like our vehicles; they need an oil change, tune up and some personal attention. Running and jogging should be enjoyable and something you look forward to – if you’re beginning to hate exercise it might be good to talk with a trainer and adjust your exercise program to meet your needs.

Create an exercise program that fits you and be realistic if this is your first time to run or jog. Take those baby steps by spending several weeks walking briskly, don’t jump on the scales daily and don’t stress a body that isn’t use to exercise. Many times discouragement comes from expecting and demanding too much, too soon from your body and mind.

If you’re starting an exercise program strictly to lose weight, than here’s a proven formula to take to the bank. Lack of exercise is crucial and must be factored into the obesity equation. Overweight occurs when the caloric intake is higher than the calories expended (in other words) too much food being eaten compared to the amount of exercise, if any.
