March Madness Final Four
Hey sports fans, how is everyone doing today? I hope that some of you have been watching March Madness this year, it had been a riot! Like every year we have a cinderella story reaching the Final Four, and this year it is tournament veteran Gonzaga. After 19 straight appearances the Zags have finally reached the final four, and it seems great. No team has come this far in Gonzaga history, including the 1999 team that lost in the final four seconds to be edged out of the final four. Is now their time of redemption?
Depending on the outcome this Sunday, it may be a very interesting final game. Both North and South Carolina are in the final four, and with the Gamecocks playing the Bulldogs and the playing the Oregon Ducks there is a chance for an all Carolina Final Four. Both teams have enjoyed recent success in the tournament, placing in the final four multiple times each. Now we have a chance to see two perennial powerhouses who just so happen to be the North/South equivalents of each other face off for the ultimate college basketball title.
Oregon is the outlier to the tournament this year, after an injury to star player Chris Boucher. Boucher suffered a season ending knee injury on March 9th and since then the team has managed to stay competitive. The Ducks have made no substantial change to their offense, other than accouting for missing a 6’10” playmaker who can block and shoot. The fact that they made it this far is a testament to Oregon’s staff and players, but will they be able to make it to the finals?
